Sonnen vs. Filho II Wiki Update Wiki

Widely considered to be one of the worst MMA matches to ever take place, Chael Sonnen vs. Paulo Filho II saw a confused, disoriented and possibly drugged Paulo Filho trying to defend the WEC Middleweight Championship against Chael Sonnen. In the day before the bout, Paulo Filho weighed in at unbelievable 192 pounds -  seven pounds heavier than the category's limit - and therefore, the fight was changed to a 3-round, non-title bout.

After two uneventful rounds, the majority of which Filho spent on his back, pulling guard while Sonnen kicked him and tried to get him to engage, things took a turn to the disastrous (and to some, hilarious) when Filho stopped trying to evade Sonnen's constant jabs and started looking away and talking to himself. At that point the boos, which the crowd had been showering upon the fighters since the beginning of the match, grew significantly in strength while even the commentators started mocking Filho's behavior and adding that thankfully the match was scheduled for three rounds instead of five.

Sonnen went on to win the fight by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27). Filho later shipped him the WEC Middleweight belt.
