Prediction: Del Rosario  |  KO/TKO  |  Round 1

This is a hard fight to pick. Del Rosario is solid on the ground, but Gonzaga is world class, and Del Rosario has been out for a while. Standing up, Gonzaga is always a threat with his big power, but he's slow, and lumbering, and his chin isn't the greatest.  Del Rosario is young, and versatile with his strikes.

I've been a Gonzaga fan for a while, and I hate to pick against him, but I've got to go with Del Rosario here.  He's well rounded enough to hang with Gonzaga's skills.  That combined with Del Rosario's youth, and athleticism will probably result in a TKO win, late in the first, or in the 2nd round.  Look out for an upset though if Gonzaga is able to get the takedown early in the fight.

I dont know what to pick yet, Im leaning towards Del Rosario but not confident in his long layoff

@live2wrestle he's back as quick as he can be considering he was in what could have been a career ending car wreck. I believe he'll run right through Gonzaga.

@Rorschach, I know but how will he perform after something like that, I hope he does run through Gonzaga because he is a very promising prospect

He'll give up size, power, and ground technique but if his TDD is even decent he should be able to keep it on the feet and he's quicker with better standup so as long as his cardio holds up I say SDR by 2nd rd TKO.

@mulefloyd Gonzaga is 6' 2" 250, Del Rosario is 6' 4" 250. Gonzaga has a 76" reach, Del Rosario has a 79" reach. So how do you see a size disadvantage for Del Rosario? All the physical advantages lie with Del Rosario. He is stronger, faster, and has the power advantage over Gonzaga. The only area where Gabe has him beat is in BJJ (by a pretty wide gap) but for only being a blue belt Shane is pretty decent off his back. Not good enough to catch Gabe with a sub, but decent enough to probably keep from getting subbed himself.

I see Shane making his return to mma/UFC debut with a chip on his shoulder like he's got something to prove. I believe he will come out hot, right from the outset, completely overwhelm Gonzaga with his superior kick-boxing & power advantage, and finish him off somewhere after the 4 minute mark of the first round. Basically I think it's gonna look a lot like what he did to "Big" Lavar Johnson in his last fight, only by TKO finish not Armbar! If you didn't see that fight go watch it. It's on the undercard of Fedor vs Silva.

This is a sick matchup, love watching SDR, but I think Gonzaga will be a little too much for him here. I can see him taking it, but I think Gonzaga has the better chance, due to his world class ground game.

I like SDR in the standup, but Gabe looked like he has gone back to his strengths in his JITS skills. SDR works the takedown prevention during his camp, I think that will be his key to winning.  If it goes to the ground...I predict his first loss.  Tough one to call, I like the matchup.

Well I don't memorize everyone's height and weight but SDR seemed a lot smaller than Johnson when they fought and looked slimmer. I still think Gonzaga's got the power advantage but if it gets out of the 1st I think it's all SDR.

Tough one to call Rosario will win if it stays standing but if Gonzaga keeps to his roots on the ground he can win.
