  • Bloody Elbow

Round three between UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos will go down in October in Houston, as most know by now. The event will probably be UFC 166, and the current champ has opened as the betting favorite over the former champ. Here's the line (via BestFightOdds):

Only one site (BetOnline) is offering a line on the fight at the moment. Velasquez (12-1) defeated Dos San...

  • Bloody Elbow

Finally, some action! UFC 161 wasn't the most relevant event ever, especially after injuries decimated the card. But an upset in the heavyweight co-main event and a close light heavyweight main event led to some changes in those two divisions in the official UFC rankings. As for everything else? Other than one minor variance at lightweight - nothing.

You can check out the full rankings here, ...

  • Bloody Elbow

In the co-main event bout of UFC 161, heavyweights Stipe Miocic (10-1, 4-1 UFC) and Roy Nelson (19-8, 6-4 UFC) threw down for 15 minutes. But surprisingly, it was Miocic that totally dominated the fight. Miocic used quickness, angles, and a smart gameplan to pick apart a plodding Big Country and took a unanimous decision. All three judges had it 30-27 for Stipe.

Nelson gassed pretty quickly in ...

  • Bloody Elbow

UFC 161 was light on action, but the results did offer up some interesting possible scenarios in a few divisions. The light heavyweight division now has a pretty obvious marquee fight. Heavyweight was thrown for a bit of a loop, and a pending free agent adds a bit of intrigue as well. Women's bantamweight has a new possible contender as well. With all that in mind, let's get down to it and see if...

  • Bloody Elbow

Mid UFC 161 my thoughts trended towards what a poor event this was, but, as is so often the case, by the end I found myself taking a more cautious approach to criticism. UFC 161 may not have been the pinnacle of sports entertainment, but it wasn't terrible. Many of the fights did a very real job of separating the competitors within their respective divisional echelons, sometimes that's all you ca...

There's lots of bellyaching about this card. Much of it is deserved. Even by UFC pay-per-view standards, the level of fighter celebrity, stakes and consequential matchmaking is strikingly low. When Dana White (and some media) groans you can't judge a card before it's happened (actually you can), they falsely equate 'exciting fights' with 'fights fans care about or want to see'. This card could en...

The trilogy fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santo for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight title is in the works for October, and this time the two big men will meet on unfamiliar turf.

According to comments made by UFC President Dana White in a media scrum at Thursday's (June 13, 2013) UFC 161 media day in Winnipeg, Ontario, Canada, Velasquez will put his title on th...

  • MMAFighting.com

UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and No. 1 contender Junior dos Santos will likely settle their score this October in Houston, TX.

A specific date and venue have yet to be finalized. UFC President Dana White revealed the news during Thursday's UFC 161 pre-fight scrum.

Velasquez (12-1) and dos Santos (16-2) have met twice before, with fighter claiming one victory over the other, albeit in...

  • Bloody Elbow

During a pre-UFC 161 media scrum, UFC president Dana White had some big news. First he stated that Jon Jones will be defending his UFC light heavyweight title against Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of UFC 165 in Toronto. Then he stated that the heavyweight title will be up for grabs in October in Houston. Joe Ferraro tweeted what White had to say:

Dana stated Cowboy stadium is not in the...

If you're not prone to fainting at the sight of blood then you should totally check out this video of Mark Hunt's horrific staph infection.

  • MMA Mania

Could be the nastiest body hole since Kevin Randleman's near-fatal Staph infection.

  • Bloody Elbow

Not for the squeamish! Mark Hunt has a very ugly hole in his leg where that old staph has been eating the UFC star's leg.

  • MMAFighting.com

Let's be honest with each other for a second. The UFC featherweight division is kind of a mess. Don't get me wrong, Jose Aldo vs. Anthony Pettis is a monster fight. Two world class, hyper-athletic, insanely creative martial artists locked inside a cage for 25 minutes. I'm all for that.

But like Chan Sung Jung mentioned last week, and Ricardo Lamas voiced prior, the bout doesn't really make much ...

If any of you are squeamish to the sight of someone's body being zombiefied by a staph infection then do not watch this video. I can not reiterate this enough. We're working with some extremely disgusting stuff here people, so if this offends you, please do not watch this video.

Seriously, I don't want any emails from overly-sensitive parents telling me their child watched this video on Middle...

  • Bloody Elbow

The official UFC rankings haven't seen much in the line of changes over the past few months other than in the lightweight division. With no titles changing hands in 2013 as of yet and a lack of major upsets, we're left with the same familiar faces. UFC on Fuel 10 didn't have many of those faces to start with, so it's not surprising that the rankings were barely touched by Saturday's event in Braz...

Over the weekend, UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt revealed that he was in the hospital to have surgery on his left leg, to address an infected hematoma stemming from his fight against Junior Dos Santos. "Right leg is fractured big toe lol and left left is infected bruise lol I’m a walking infection," Hunt tweeted, laughing out loud twice to signify how badly inju...

  • MMA Mania

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Mark Hunt is a self-described "walking infection" following his knockout loss to Junior dos Santos at UFC 160, and is in need of multiple surgeries to fix the lingering issues.

On top of the gruesome broken toe Hunt suffered in the first round of his slugfest with "Cigano," the 39-year-old has been dealing with an infected hematoma in his left leg...
