Standing 6’7” tall and weighing it at the heavyweight limit of 265 lbs., Brad Imes is the type of fighter who quickly garners attention. That became apparent when, after putting together a 3-0 pro record on the local California circuit, Imes was invited to participate in the second season of The Ultimate Fighter reality show. Imes performed well in the heavyweight tournament, ultimately losing to Rashad Evans by Split Decision in the live Finale. After back-to-back losses in the promotion, Imes was cut in 2007.
Since being cut from the UFC Imes has understandably drawn far less attention; however, he may be the only fighter in the history of the sport to have pulled off back-to-back submission wins by way of Gogoplata, which he accomplished during his post-UFC run in 2007. He is surely the only heavyweight to do so.

It's been a busy month of fights in combat sports (boxing, kickboxing, and of course MMA), and the final UFC event this April sees Jon Jones defend his light heavyweight title against Chael Sonnen at UFC 159 in New Jersey. But before you watch tomorrow's PPV, we're back to bring you another edition of the GIFathon. As usual, we (myself, Dallas Winston, and Zombie Prophet) profile several fighters...

(Even in the face of despair, Fletcher always maintains a sunny disposition. Via Colin's Twitter account.)
Although not completely unexpected given his current 0-2 record in the promotion, the UFC's recent firing of TUF: Smashes lightweight runner-up Colin "Freakshow" Fletcher might represent one of the fastest post-TUF firings for a finalist in the show's history. After dropping a tepid deci...

The mixed martial arts community seemed to find a curious, morbid joy in Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva's video game-esque knockout of Alistair Overeem at UFC 156. Though considering Overeem's recent brush with the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and his generally dismissive attitude heading into last Saturday's bout, I guess the reaction isn't altogether surprising.
What is surprising, however, is t...

Two long-time veteran light heavyweights will finally meet this Saturday night (Feb. 2, 2013) as Rashad Evans battles Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the co-main event of UFC 156 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Evans has competed since losing a unanimous decision to former friend and teammate Jon Jones last April, the only fighter to go the distance with Jones since he made his run to become champion. "Suga"...
