Wiki

Royston Wee Wiki

Royston Wee is a Singaporean bantamweight fighter currently signed to the UFC. He is a MMA and Muay Thai coach at Impact MMA in Singapore. He was the first Singaporean to be signed by the UFC, but his signing drew criticism because he only had two fights previously against opponents who had a 0-3 combined record. Many believed that he was signed simply to draw more fans from Singapore to the companies first show there. Of his three professional wins, two have been finishes with both coming by submission.

Wee began his professional career at the end of 2011. He had both of his fights within a one month span under the Malaysian Fighting Championship banner and was able to finish both of them with submissions in the first round. He tried out for the first season of The Ultimate Fighter: China, but the producers believed that he was better suited to join the UFC rather than participate in the show. This may have been due to the company having plans to have a show in Singapore shortly thereafter.

It was announced in late 2013 that Royston had been signed to the UFC. He made his debut against Dave Galera at UFC Fight Night 34 in his native Singapore and was able to pick up a unanimous decision victory.
