Miriam Nakamoto Wiki

Miriam Nakamoto is considered one of the top female strikers in the world. Versatile in both Muay Thai kickboxing and traditional boxing, she has been involved in the striking arts for over 13 years. She has been professional since 2005, sporting a Muay Thai record of 14-0.

In 2007, Miriam was on the hit reality TV show, "Fight Girls". Later that same year on August 12th, Miriam showcased her talents in her first world title fight in the prestigious Queen’s Cup in Thailand.  She captured the WPMO world title in a convincing fashion, dominating her opponent in all 5 rounds en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Two years later she competed in the IFMA World Championships. She fought such notables as Rachida Hilali of Morocco, Jenni Andersson of Sweden and the 2009 European champion, Katariina Perkkio. Each of these ladies had an upwards of 25+ Muay Thai bouts, with some as high as 45. Miriam had entered the tournament with 5. She proceeded to clean out the division, eventually winning gold over Morocco's Rachida Hilali. She was then awarded the Best Boxer trophy for females. No American had ever received this award, male or female. She had a mere two weeks notice to prepare for this tournnament. (She had been called in to replace an injured member of the US National Muay Thai team.)

In April of 2010 Miriam had the honor of competing against Angela Rivera Parr, a legend in the sport of women's Muay Thai. This would be for the IMTA-TBA World Title in Santa Monica, CA. She defeated Parr via unanimous decision. Rounding off a successful 2010 she captured the coveted WBC World Title . She scored a vicious first round KO over Luxemborg's Claire Haigh. Claire Haigh was ranked 3rd in the world.

After being out all of 2011 from ACL reconstruction surgery, Ms. Nakamoto has come back with flying colors. April 28th she fought Sandra Bastian for the WMC Lightweight World Title at the Legends Muay Thai event in San Francisco, CA. Miriam ended the bout via cut by elbow in the 3rd round.

Miriam trains out of Combat Sports Academy in Dublin, CA. She is under the tuttelage of Coach Kirian Fitzgibbons, who is notably the head coach of the US National Muay Thai Team.

In 2012 Miriam made the transition to MMA finishing her opponent with knees in the 2nd round. On April 5th 2013 she made her debut for Invicta FC taking on rising Women's MMA Star and previously undefeated Jessamyn Duke at Invicta FC 5. The fight ended with some controversy as Nakamoto initially dropped Duke with a knee to the head, then another to a kneeling Duke (an illegal shot in MMA). However referee John McCarthy jumped in to stop the fight calling it a KO.
