While it did better business than the Tank vs. Buentello card from October, the final event of 2006 for Strikeforce did not perform as well as their first two shows of the year. On the card, Josh Thomson became the Strikeforce U.S. Lightweight Champion by defeating Nam Phan by decision, Cung Le won his third MMA fight by defeating Jason Von Flue by TKO due to a cut in the first round, and Gina Carano, the future face of women’s MMA, made her Strikeforce debut, defeating Elaina Maxwell by decision.
