Sandoval and Denis took to the Octagon for the first bout of the evening on Fuel TV in a bantamweight affair.
The fighters exchanged strikes early, with Denis landing the harder leather that had Sandoval backpedaling. A series of hard right elbows to the temple dropped Sandoval for the emphatic finish early into the first round.
The official end came 22 seconds into the first round, giving Denis the emphatic win in his UFC debut. After the fight, Denis said the bout went, "about as good as it could have gone," and revealed that he was actually planning to take Sandoval down before the fight.
