Camoes and Hayden took to the cage for the third bout of the evening, as Camoes made his return to the UFC after a two-year absence while Hayden made his promotional debut.
Hayden fired off occasional strikes as he backed away from Camoes throughout the first minute before shrugging off a pair of takedown attempts. Hayden took Camoes's back in a scramble and used it to get a pseudo-takedown, but was forced to defend a Kimura that Camoes used to get back to his feet. Camoes landed a knee to the chin but got taken down. Hayden stood out of Camoes's guard and let the Brazilian stand. Hayden wound up on top in Camoes's half guard after a scramble. Camoes locked in an Omaplata but Hayden escaped, although Camoes swept him and got on top and pounded away from within Hayden's guard. Camoes took Hayden's back in a scramble and eventually locked in the choke, drawing a reluctant and feeble tap from a fading Hayden.
The official end came 4:03 into the first round, giving Camoes the submission victory.
Camoes thanked the promoters for bringing him back to the UFC and said he was surprised by Hayden's striking in the early-going.
