The third bout of Strikeforce Tate vs Rousey featured Roger Bowling taking on Brandon Saling in the welterweight division.
The fighters opened up swinging hard and Saling connecting first with Bowling stumbling back. Bowling pressed back into the action, pushing Saling against the fence and then backed up and swung wildly with Saling firing back. Both fighters nailed each other with bombs and Bowling, after eating some power, decided to move in for a takedown, planting Saling onto his back. Bowling looked for an armbar, lost position and Saling got back to his feet. Saling landed another nice set of punches but Bowling secured another takedown. Bowling held Saling in place, preventing him from pressing off the fence and holding him in side control. Bowling secured a top-side crucifix position with a minute remaining and opened a cut on the forehead of Saling. Bowling lost the crucifix position but transitioned to full mount as the round came to a close.
Bowling immediately landed a takedown to star the second round and was quickly into the crucifix position again. Saling ate punch after punch with the referee finally calling it off with Bowling securely in position.
The official end came at 1:15 with Roger Bowling winning via TKO.
